FBSO...One of many diverse activities of Fort Bend County Fort Bend County , TX – There's more to Fort Bend County than cowboys and cattle. The Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra is an affirmation of the amazing diversity of activities found in Fort Bend County . Home to some of the oldest working cattle ranches in the area, Fort Bend County also boasts a thriving cultural arts community.
Launched in 1992, the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra is celebrating its eighteenth season of bringing symphonic music to the citizens of this region. The full-size orchestra complete with brass, woodwinds, percussion, and strings, represents an abundant cross-section of local talent. The group consists of approximately 40 dedicated and talented musicians, primarily from the Fort Bend area.
The symphony began when local musicians agreed that residents should have the opportunity to hear live symphonic music right here in Fort Bend County . Through community support and volunteerism, that vision quickly became a reality. Today, the orchestra continues its original mission. Added benefits include providing qualified performers and soloists the opportunity to appear locally, fostering music education through our Concerto Competition, and other special musical events. A recent recipient of a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the symphony continues to grow and create new ways to reach out to the community.
