The Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra opens its 15th season with the exotic sounds of Spain in an exciting concert entitled: In a Latin Mood. The concert is scheduled for Sunday, October 22, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at the beautiful Stafford Centre, 10505 Cash Road, Stafford, Texas. Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjues will feature Jeremy Garcia on Spanish guitar. The hauntingly beautiful melody is a perennial crowd favorite, and has been recorded by such diverse artists as Jose Feliciano, Miles Davis, and Pepe Romero.

The Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra is once again the recipient of a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. For the third year in a row, the Orchestra was invited to apply for the Challenge America: Reaching Every Community Invitational Initiative and recently learned of their success in securing the grant.

Amy Floyd of Sugar Land, President of the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra, was named Greater Houston Area Volunteer of the Year by Special Olympics at the annual awards banquet on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at the Arabia Shrine Center.

A Fort Bend County resident since 2000, MsFloyd has played cello with the Orchestra since 2003 and has served as President of the Fort Bend Symphony since 2004She is also an accomplished pianist and flautist.

Robin Harrison, Canadian pianist, will join the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra for a pair of performances this February. Mr. Harrison, a well-known artist across Canada, the United States, and throughout the world, will play Mozart’s Piano Concerto no. 24, K. 491 in c minor, as we celebrate the 250th year of Mozart’s birth. Join us for this exciting performance, as Mr. Harrison delights us with his lyrical interpretation of this masterpiece.
